In partnership with St. Louis Regional Library Network, the Missouri Historical Society Library & Research Center will host a preservation workshop. Assistant Librarian Randall Blomquist will present on the Missouri History Society Library & Research Center preservation philosophies, their preservation processes, and procedures.
The workshop will include demonstrations of the creation of enclosures, over sized envelopes with slings, and custom 4 flap boxes for books using folder stock. Registrants will make a custom over sized flat envelope/folder for an object that does not fit into ready-made products and create a custom 4 flap box for a book.
Registrants are invited to bring one book (not large folio) and one document to create an enclosure to take home. If registrants are unable to bring objects, they will create enclosures for Missouri History Society Library & Research Center objects.
An exclusive tour of the Missouri History Society Library & Research Center Reading Room, updated technical services area, and St. Louis stacks will allow registrants to see how the Missouri History Society Library & Research Center shelves a variety of items.
Limited visitor (5 spots) and street parking is available. Skinker Boulevard street parking is used by the Washington University at Saint Louis construction workers. Carpooling or taking the Metrolink is encouraged.
The Missouri History Society Library & Research Center is a ½ mile (11 minute) walk from the Metrolink Skinker station.
